I have been looking for a good skin care routine most of my life.
After years of trying popular and expensive products, I found the answer to beautiful skin in my pantry. One product that cleans, moisturizes, reduces pores and heals your skin.

My skin went through every phase through out my life. I had acne prone skin when I was a teener, followed by oily skin in my mid to late 20s. After having kids my skin was dry, I had large pores and my skin was red and irritated.

I was in search of a a product that would help my skin, and I didn’t care how much it cost. As I am getting older I can see the damage that has been done by the sun and wearing make everyday.

I watched documentaries on being a vegetarian and saw how beautiful the skin of those women were. They attributed their flawless complexion to clean eating. I tried switching my diet and became vegetarian for years in hope to clear up my skin, but it didn’t help.

Products like Proactive for the treatment of acne made my skin dry and irritated. I tried a few salon treatments, but it was an expensive personal service to maintain and some treatments made my pores larger and skin dryer.

As I was searching for yet another “Best Seller” skin care product on Amazon I paused and realized I can’t finalize my order which came to over $150 for 3 products. I just couldn’t justify spending that much money on a skin care product. I also have a blog about frugal living, how would I justify this to my readers.

I cancelled my order and in that moment decided I will treat my skin with natural products that are gentle. I headed down to my pantry and saw my favorite coconut oil I use to bake with and use in my morning coffee. I filled a jello shot cup with my favorite extra virgin and organic coconut oil.

That evening I grabbed a white wash cloth, put it under hot water and wiped my face. Then I smeared my face and neck with coconut oil and rubbed it into my skin, using it like a face was. I followed it by another was cloth that I put under hot water and wiped the coconut oil off.

I was shocked on how much make up I was able to remove with a simple wash cloth and coconut oil. I rinsed the wash cloth again under hot water and this time kept it on my face and neck for 30 seconds, almost creating a steaming effect.

After fully wiping down all the coconut oil from my face and neck, I drenched my fingertips again in coconut oil and gently applied it to my now clean skin.

Here is the exact steps and products I use:

  1. Wet a wash cloth under a faucet, use hot water. Wring out most of the water. I recommend this brand wash cloth, they are soft, yet exfoliating enough to remove make up and dead skin.
  2. Wipe your face and neck in a circular motion to remove most of the make up and dead skin. Focus on your nose, chin, neck and forehead.
  3. Dip your fingertips in coconut oil and start rubbing it on your face and neck in a circular motion. Focus on your eyes, under your eyes, cheeks, nose, and neck. Rub the coconut oil for 1 minute into your skin. I recommend this brand coconut oil. It is extra virgin, which is hard to find and organic.
  4. Clean the wash cloth you used under hot tap water, rinse out and wipe off all the coconut oil from your face and neck.
  5. Now that your skin and neck is clean and feels moist, you will apply a little more coconut oil, and you are done.

I have been doing this routine every morning and evening for 3 weeks and it takes me a total of 3 minutes. I am amazed at how soft and moist my skin is. I also noticed that my pores have become smaller and I have less blackheads. I tell you the results are amazing with the just these two products.

I do want to disclose that I haven’t used any facial scrub, face wash, or moisturizes and the result is amazing. I will share my favorite homemade facial scrub that is gentle, chemical free and effective.

As I am finalizing this post I see an advertisement for a facial cream that keeps skin moisturized and soft. I smiled and reaffirmed myself I will never use anymore chemical filled and highly hyped products ever again.

I found my fountain of youth in my pantry. It is the best $28 I spent on a skin care routine that will last me for years and most importantly works.

Please try this, you will not be disappointed, I guarantee it.
